Since its establishment in November of 2005, Roots of Change has worked hard to organize itself into a charitable organization with the ultimate purpose of continuing on Father Denis Hebert missionary work in Nicaragua. Having reached its goal of charitable status in March 2009, RofC is now able to funnel 97% of donations directly to our partners to the south.
Fundacco, our partner in Nicaragua, has been instrumental in keeping us passionate, as they are continually seeking projects they believe represent our vision of creating a sustainable, more humane life for the Nicaraguan people.
Understanding the administrative and life challenges that third world societies such as Fundacco encounter daily further inspire RofC to take action in giving opportunity to those who dream to build a lasting foundation for the future.
As we look towards our fifth anniversary as a foundation in 2010, we must also reflect on the history Roots of Change and the tremendous work of Father Denis Hebert in planting the seeds of the foundation when he relocated to Nicaragua in 1990 to develop a Social Pastoral Program; remembering a beginning and celebrating a milestone.
Father Denis Hebert dedication to creating opportunities to the less fortunate is readily apparent as he began his missionary work in June of 1969. It is with great honor that Roots of Change is able to continue on his legacy. As we look to the future, we sincerely thank Father Denis Hebert for being the vehicle that has enabled us to extend beyond our own borders and join the grassroots movement to give opportunity to the less fortunate and create a more humane life for the Nicaraguan people.
Thank you to all our members and volunteers, our compaņeros to the south, and to our donors and supporters who sustain our organization with unwavering love, hope, and support. We continually strive to strengthen our commitment in creating long term human equality for the Nicaraguan people.
Along with attaining charitable status in 2009, RofC has also welcomed new members to both the executive and board in efforts to continue adding new perspectives to our ever growing foundation.
