  • NICA Pre-schools Update - During 2014 and 2015 the preschools received a substantial increase in their food allowance – from $21US to $108 - $125US monthly. The schools were also stocked with new teaching materials and cleaning supplies. The teachers received training in food preparation and crafts, and in toilet training. As well, kitchens and toilets were repaired and/or upgraded.   More...

  • NICA Pre-schools - The NICA Preschool Project encompasses three pre-schools in some of the poorest barrios in Managua, Nicaragua.  The pre-schools are well run by dedicated teachers and parents, but their biggest challenge, of course, is funding.  The facilities are all in need of some degree of repair or improvement.        More...

  • FUNDACCO Scholarship Program - Over the years, deserving young people received financial help for post secondary education on an occasional basis. In 2009 this funding was formally embedded in the annual budget as the FUNDACCO Scholarship Program in order to help more young people develop the skills they need to break the cycle of poverty.   More...

  • Miriam Sanchez – A leader dedicated to improving her community - Miriam Sánchez is a community liaison officer in Cinco Pinos. As is the case for many scholarship recipients, Miriam is giving back to her village by using her skills and education to serve as a leader in community development projects.     More...PDF

  • Cinco Pinos Savings and Loan Co-operative - Members of the Cinco Pinos financial co-op took an active part in FUNDACCO-led training sessions to learn organizational management and accounting skills, and to encourage teamwork among co-op members and community leaders.   • Youth Leadership Training in Managua -  FUNDACCO provides annual leadership training for young people in the poorest neighbourhoods of Managua. This program starts in May each year and covers a range of topics related to community development.                          More...PDF
