  • San Raphael Archangel Clinic - With an annual budget in 2012 of over $35,000 the San Raphael clinic in the Edgard Lang neighbourhood of Managua is the largest single project supported by Roots of Change.  This Clinic, which was built and is owned by our partner FUNDACCO, serves people who would otherwise not get the medical help they need.  More

  • Report on San Rafael and Satellite Clinics - The  San Rafael Archangel Clinic, which opened in 2009, continued to experience a steady increase in patient numbers in 2012. In the first three months there was a 38% increase in the number of patient visits, with a total of 473 visits in that period. The largest increase was among females over 15 years of age.  More...

  • Profile of Dr. Jazmin Godinez Fariñas  - A vibrant woman with a warm smile and a gentle manner, Jazmíndel Carmen Gutierrez Fariñas, is a native of Managua, Nicaragua. She grew up in a hardworking household with three brothers, one of whom is an economist and another, an electronics engineer. Her father is a welder, her mother a doctor and the inspiration for Jazmín’s eventual career choice.   More...

  • Satellite Clinics Celebrate 10 Years of Health and Wellness - The program to bring primary health care to six poor neighbourhoods bordering Lake Managua began in 2002 as a one-year pilot program. Father Denis Hebert met with the leaders from the six neighbourhoods (barios) to review the need for services for the residents who are at risk of disease from lack of garbage collection, insufficient drinking water, poor water storage, and lack of wastewater drainage.   More...

  • Les services de santé à la Clinique San Rafael Archange -  Ouvert en 2009, la clinique de San Rafael a connue une croissance stable dans le nombre de patients en 2012. Dans les trois premiers mois, il y a eu une augmentation de 38% dans le nombre de visites de patients avec un total de 473 visites pour cette période de temps.   • Belén Community Centre  - The St Albert Catholic High School Rotary Interac Club began fundraising in February 2013 in support of a community sports centre at Belén. After a second fundraiser in 2014 they had raised $40,000 to construct this project.  Additional fundraisers by the Interac Club and the UofA Rotaract Club in 2015 provided funds for sports equipment.  The official opening of the new centre was celebrated on October 21, 2015.
